Sometimes you get a car that’s just too good to be true. With all the emphasis on survivors lately, it seems nicer, original, unmolested cars are out there than we thought, and more and more of them are coming onto the market. This two-owner 1970 Dodge Coronet R/T is from the collection of a long-time MOPAR fan, and it remains in virtually untouched, original condition throughout. Even more amazing is the stack of rare options it carries, including factory A/C and that incredibly cool “Gator Grain” vinyl roof.

Chrysler, slow to enter the specialty car market, selected their Dodge Division to enter an untapped market for a bigger model to fit between the pony car Ford Mustang and the personal luxury Ford Thunderbird.[1] The intention was to use the B-body for a sporty car with fastback look while sharing as much of their existing hardware as possible.[1] The 1973 Chargers sported all new sheet metal, though to the untrained eye only the rear roof C-pillars looked like the only difference from the 1972's. Also new were vertically slatted taillights and new grilles, and no more hidden headlights, even as an option.

| 1973 Dodge Charger Special Edition (Facebook) $6,900 |
1973 Dodge Charger Special Edition Most of the changes for the 1973 Dodge Charger are cosmetic this year, as the engine offerings remained the same. . SE trims featured a 318, 2 , barrel carb while the Rallye trim offered a 340 magnum as well as the previous assortment of powerplants. All 1973 Charger models featured an enlarged rear quarter-window, but the SE trim had a specially designed rear triple opera window enveloped in a canopy style vinyl roof, giving the appearance of gills. Also new this year in Rallye models were optional reflective side stripes. Taillights became vertical slats and the hidden headlight option was discontinued. A suspension redesign in the 1973 Dodge Charger resulted in an apparently quieter and smoother ride. Owners of this car, who admittedly buy it either to retune the engines for speed or just for its awesome look, are also pleased with its dependability and durability on the road.
